2015 marks 17 years of pastoral ministry for Pastor Matthew in The United Methodist Church.  He has helped to raise thousands of dollars for Engage Burkina, a ministry designed to provide clean drinking water for the impoverished in the third poorest country in the world.  He was honored in 2001 as Crossing's Pastor of the Year as well as winning upon ordination in 2005 the PB Smith preaching award.  Pastor Matthew is a recent fellow of the Wabash Pastoral Leadership Program as well as the Bishop's Leadership Academy.  He studied at the University of Evansville, earning a B.A. in Pre-Theology, Philosophy, and Religion, and studied one semester at their sister campus, Harlaxton College, in Grantham, England.  After graduating from UE, in 1996, he attended seminary at Methodist Theological School in Ohio, earning a master's of divinity.  He returned a few years later to MTSO and earned a DM in Missional Leadership.  Pastor Matthew has served United Methodist congregations in the former North Indiana Conference and Indiana Conference, located in Fowlerton, Pendleton First, Herbst, Simpson, North UMC (Madison, IN), and Acton UMC.

Born January 2, 1974 in Manassas, Virginia, Matthew grew up in Gas City, Indiana.  Matthew and his wife, Heather, have two daughters, Elizabeth and Brianna.
